Each of the organisms in the following list are known to cause infection in humans, and are known to be transferred through insect bites. Most commonly, these organisms are transferred to humans through tick bites. However, there are other modes of transmission. Borrelia burgdorferi is the cause of Lyme Disease, and has affected millions world wide. Infections caused by other organisms can cause very similar symptoms as well, and can be transmitted at the same time Borrelia burgdorferi is transmitted. Since treatment options vary with different organisms, it is very important to specifically identify the organisms that could be contributing to an individuals declining health.
